About This Quiz

*SPOILER ALERT ... THIS QUIZ IS TOUGH AND FULL OF SPOILERS*

Chaos may be a ladder, but "Game of Thrones" is a sensation. Based on the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R. R. Martin, this TV show has proven itself time and again to be among the highest ranking (if not the highest ranking) television shows of all time. The show has it all: special effects that rival those in modern movies, unapologetic gore and one heck of a cast. With stars like Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington bringing Martin's epic characters to life, this show simply could not lose, and it doesn't. Every year it airs, it wins fistfuls of Emmy awards and tackles any competition (well ... what some might try to call "competition" anyway).

However, the show would be nothing without the development of the characters that Martin has created. Each of these characters serves a greater purpose and has a destiny that we viewers couldn't even imagine, but if you're a true "Game of Thrones" fan, you will always try. You want to find the little things that show where these characters are going or how they might end up (which is mostly dead on this show). If you love the characters on this epic show more than you love the story lines, it's time to take a little quiz. Let's see if you can name these "Game of Thrones Characters" from just three hints.

She has red hair, is a witch, and Davos hates her. Who is she?

Also known as the Red Woman and the Red Priestess, Melisandre was initially introduced as Stannis Baratheon's right hand woman (as Davos is his right hand man). She lost a lot of love from fans when she killed a child for king's blood, but *kind of* redeemed herself in Season 8, Episode 3.

This character never talks, was the king's justice and scares Sansa Stark. Do you know who he is?

You may not remember his name, but you will definitely remember him as the man who chopped off Ned Stark's head with his own sword. While Ilyn Payne plays a somewhat deeper role in the books, he kind of disappeared from the TV show.

The Red Witch put leeches on his body, Arya has a crush on him and he's an excellent blacksmith, but do you know his name?

Arya first meets Gendry when she is running from King's Landing after Ned Stark's death. She takes a liking to him, but does not know that he is Robert Baratheon's bastard son who is also running from King's Landing.

Which character knows nothing, is a great fighter and has already died once?

We can all recognize Jon Snow from a screenshot, but remembering minor elements of his character might be a little more difficult. While we all thought he'd be the one to take down the Night King, we were all pleasantly surprised when he didn't.

Do you remember which character is nicknamed The Mountain, is the hound's brother and was stabbed by Oberyn Martell?

The Mountain (or Gregor Clegane) is now known as Sir Robert Strong, but if you only watch the show and haven't read the books, you probably know him as Cersei's Franken-killer. He likes to smash people.

This character no longer goes by his given name, had a major injury early in the series and can see through the eyes of others. Who is he?

There must always be a Stark in Winterfell, until Bran has to escape, because Theon wants to kill him. Luckily, Bran gets beyond the wall, and ends up turning into the Three-Eyed Raven.

Do you remember the name of the character who was tortured, faked the death of the Stark boys and betrayed his friend?

We know Theon Greyjoy as a pompous jerkface in the first couple of seasons. Then we know him as Reek. Then we know him as the coward who saves Sansa. Finally, he dies protecting Bran from the Night King. What a life. Most fans still don't know how to feel about him.

Which character had to marry someone she didn't know, hatched some dragons and united every Khalasar?

We all know Daenarys by her 18 names and her gorgeous hair, but some didn't realize that she ended up fulfilling the prophecy that her son was supposed to fulfill. She was the Stallion Who Mounted the World (Are YOU going to tell her she's a "mare?")

Can you name the character that was once loyal to Renly, is an excellent fighter and is in love with Jamie Lannister?

Brienne of Tarth is one of those characters you aren't really sure about when you first meet her, but as time goes by, you realize that she's pretty awesome. Her journey with Jaime Lannister and her other journey with Podrick are what helped us fall in love with her.

This character is great with the ladies, had to learn how to use a sword and saved Tyrion Lannister's life. Who is he?

While Podrick Payne was meant to be Tyrion's squire in battles, he ended up being so much more. He stopped the man who was about to murder Tyrion at the battle of Blackwater and impressed some prostitutes, and when he was done, we all loved him.

Which character was the first to kill a white walker, likes to read and has a girlfriend?

Some say that Samwell Tarly is going to be the storyteller of the "Game of Thrones" series. While there are a few extra details in the books, the show does a great job showing Sam's journey beyond the wall, to the Citadel and on to Winterfell.

This character is a schemer, was in love with Catelyn Stark and killed her sister. Do you know his name?

This is the man that everyone grew to hate. While we were all a little skeptical of Varys, we soon learned that his greater interests were for the common good, but Baelish (also known as Littlefinger) was all about chaos.

Which character never cut his hair, was in love with the dragon queen and rode horses?

Khal Drogo seemed to be a bad guy the first time we met him, but once the dragon queen melted his heart with love, we started to see him as the perfect man for her ... of course, soon after he died a pretty terrible death.

Can you name the character who was a cruel king, made people beat Sansa and did horrible things with a crossbow?

Everyone who has seen the show and read the books waited patiently for this boy king to finally kick the bucket. We wanted it to be the worst death possible, and although it wasn't the most gruesome death on the show, we were not disappointed.

Which king betrayed his allies, married in the field and had a wolf?

Even those who read the books were shocked at the death of Robb Stark at the Red Wedding. He had betrayed his ally Walder Frey and paid the price for his sins in the worst way possible.

This character lived with Tyrion, had an affair with Tywin and betrayed the younger of the two, who is she?

Everyone loved Shae when we first met her as a prostitute on the battlefield. Tyrion fell in love with her (as Tyrion does, we soon find out), and it was just all downhill from there. When she betrayed him, we couldn't wait for her to die.

Do you remember the character who had parts of his fingers chopped off by Stannis, saved Gendry and protected Jon Snow's body?

Davos was once a smuggler, but when he saved Dragonstone during a siege, he was knighted (after the tips of his fingers were cut off, of course). Davos is also known as the Onion Knight because he smuggled onions to the starving people of Dragonstone.

What is the name of the character who says he's no one, saved Arya and taught her how to fight?

There is no better character in the "Game of Thrones" series to help Arya on her journey than Jaqen H'ghar. He is a faceless man, so we never really know what he looks like, but most people recognize him as the man with long hair that has a white streak in it.

He is a great warrior, loves Missandei and kept his slave name, what is that name?

Grey Worm is one of the best soldiers on the "Game of Thrones" series. He is in high ranks in the dragon queen's army, and he knows how to please a woman, even if he doesn't have all of the required parts.

She was queen to three different kings, she was smart and she came from a house of roses. Do you remember her name?

Our first look at Margaery Tyrell is in Renly Baratheon's camp. While Renly had no claim to the Iron Throne, he simply got by on his looks and his connections with the Tyrell family. He died pretty quickly.

Do you remember the character who helped Bran get north of the wall, protected her brother and screamed "hold the door" to Hodor?

We know Meera Reed as a great hunter and protector of her brother. She helped Bran get to the Three-Eyed Raven and then back to Winterfell. In the show, she simply just disappeared after an awkward farewell to Bran.

Which character didn't want to go home, loved a prince and died from poisoning?

Myrcella Baratheon didn't make much of an appearance in the show until Season 5. In this season, we learned that she was in love with the Prince of Dorne, but that love didn't matter as she was soon killed by the Ellaria Sand.

The patriarch of House Lannister, killed by his son and hand to many kings, who is he?

It's easy to see that Tywin Lannister doesn't care much for Tyrion. He puts Tyrion on the front lines in the first battle. The result of this in the books is different from the show, but either way, Tyrion lives to see another day and kill his father.

He ignored guest right, kidnapped a Tully and helped the Lannisters. Who is he?

In earlier seasons, Walder Frey was one of the least-liked characters on the TV show (and in the books). Not only did he invite people into his home for a wedding, he senselessly murdered them, all because he couldn't marry one of his daughters off.

This character was considered worse than Joffrey, loved dogs and got bored easily. What is his name?

Ramsay Bolton is often considered one of the most evil characters who has ever been on a television screen. He was senseless and didn't care who he hurt, as long as he wasn't bored. Luckily for him, his death wasn't boring at all.

Which character only knew one word, was the biggest hero of his time and helped Bran?

Hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor. Alright, we'll stop speaking his language. Hodor is easily one of the most tragic characters in all of "Game of Thrones." While he helped Bran get north of the wall, on their way back, we learned exactly how Hodor became Hodor, and there wasn't a dry eye in the room.

She claims the Iron Throne, lost her children and found a big bodyguard. Do you know who she is?

After the deaths of all of her children, Cersei Lannister simply put on a crown and told everyone that she was queen. No one seemed to care one way or another, and everyone (except those in the north) just accepted it.

Which character was going to be the queen, hated her life and married Tyrion Lannister?

Everyone can really agree that Sansa had a pretty rude awakening when her father lost his head. It took a lot, but she learned how to play the game of thrones after some time.

He loves a younger woman, had greyscale and saved his queen, but do you know his name?

We all know Jorah Mormont as the king of the friendzone, and that is where he died. Of course, when we first meet him, he's spying on Daenerys, so he can return to Westeros. However, after she lives through a fire, he goes ahead and falls in love with her.

He likes fermented goat's milk, Brienne and giants. Do you know who he is?

We learned quite a bit about Tormund in Season 8, Episode 2. Besides the fact that he is desperately in love with Brienne of Tarth (which we already knew), he nursed on the teat of a giant when he was young ... that's how he got so strong, of course.

Do you know which character started as a sellsword, became a knight and wants a castle?

In the books, Bronn's character fades away after Tyrion is arrested, but fans of the show liked him so much that show writers decided to give him more of a role, so we see him helping Jaime, and his new mission is to kill Cersei's brothers.

Can you name the character who wants to save the world, helps Tyrion and doesn't have hair?

He doesn't expect people to call him Lord Varys, but he was the Master of Whispers for the king until Joffrey died. At that point he ran away with Tyrion, as he was sure to be found out for saving the innocent man.

Which man was the dragon queen's lover, great with a sword and was mean to Jorah Mormont?

Daario Naharis won over the dragon queen's heart by giving her the heads of his friends (who wanted to kill her). He thought she was so beautiful, he refused to go to war with her. She repaid him by keeping him back in Myreen while she conquered the Seven Kingdoms and romped with her nephew.

Who was the sweet king who loved cats and Margaery?

Tommen Baratheon was the king just after Joffrey Baratheon. However, when his mother decided to kill his wife, Tommen sadly took his own life as he didn't realize that he was still the king and could have punished his mother for her crimes.

She was kissed by fire, a great shot with a bow and loved Jon Snow. Do you remember her name?

We all loved Ygritte for helping Jon Snow keep his secret (that he was still loyal to the Night's Watch). While she was a wildling, we learned quickly that she was smart and funny and she had just what Jon Snow needed.
