No one really likes Dementors when they run across them because a Dementor is a surly, scary thing. They look like Death with a capital D and, you know, they actually cause death. Dementors are the most terrifying magical creature in the entire Wizarding world. Even if they don't kill you, they'll literally feed on your happiness and hope, taking it away from you and leaving you a husk of your former self.  It's safe to say that the best way to deal with a Dementor is to avoid it at all costs.
